SIA course booking checklist

Check the role and qualification

Start with the work you intend to do. Confirm which qualification and licence the role requires with the course provider and the Security Industry Authority. Read the official licence-linked training guidance before booking.

Compare the complete cost

Ask what the advertised price includes: required first-aid training, assessment, resits and any extra charges. Check the licence application cost separately. Use the provider’s current quote rather than an old price in an article.

Check practical details

Confirm the venue, travel time, course dates, attendance requirements, identification documents and any learning that must be completed in advance. Read cancellation and refund terms before paying.

Check your route to work

Completing training, obtaining a licence and finding a job are separate steps. Course completion does not guarantee licence approval or employment. Ask the provider what support is included and check the SIA requirements for your circumstances.

Prepare clear records for your first shift

Download a free A4 shift handover form. Have your manager approve any template before using it on site. It is an administrative aid, not a training certificate or replacement for site instructions.

Need the full set of shift records?

Our Security Shift Records pack includes eight blank forms in an A4 PDF, plus editable browser-based source files. It covers handovers, patrols, incidents, keys, equipment, visitors, daily occurrences and follow-up actions. Base price £9 on Etsy; buyer taxes may apply. The files are administrative templates for adaptation to your site procedures.
